Same drivers. Keep the 30%.
Since 2019 we've been sending restaurant orders from their own online ordering to DoorDash Drive, Uber Eats, and Postmates drivers for one flat delivery fee instead of a commission. The driver who shows up is the same one the apps would send. The difference is who keeps the money.
- ✓One flat fee per delivery. Most of our deliveries run $6.99, whatever the order total.
- ✓Your customer can cover it. Charge the whole fee or part of it, like $4.99, and your cost per delivery drops to about $2.
- ✓Keep the apps for discovery. We turn their customers into your direct customers with offers that only work when they order from you.
- ✓Your prices, your customer list. No marked-up menu, and every order's name, phone, and email is yours.
Commission vs flat fee
Start with what the apps send you each week.
Estimate only. Flat fees depend on distance and the delivery network; most of ours are $6.99. Card processing applies to direct orders like any card sale, and is covered by the card price on a cash discount program.
$15 to the app, or $2 to the driver
DoorDash and Uber Eats charge restaurants 15%, 25%, or 30% of every delivery order depending on the plan, and the plans that put you in front of the most customers are the expensive ones. Here is the same $50 order both ways.
Keep the apps. Convert their customers.
We don't ask you to quit DoorDash or Uber Eats. They're good at finding new customers. They're just expensive at keeping them, so we use them for the first order and you get every order after that.
They find you on the app
A new customer orders through DoorDash or Uber Eats. You pay the commission once. That's the cost of meeting them.
Their bag has an offer
Every app order goes out with a postcard, flyer, or magnet we design for you: a coupon or special that only works when they order from your site or app.
Next time they order direct
Same food, same prices as in the restaurant, often cheaper for them than the app. Your ordering site takes the order and the payment.
The same drivers deliver it
The order is dispatched to a DoorDash Drive, Uber Eats, or Postmates driver for a flat fee. Your customer sees live tracking. You keep the 30%.
What we set up: your commission-free ordering site or branded app, driver dispatch through DoorDash Drive and Uber's delivery network, the flat-fee and customer-fee settings, direct-only promos, coupons, and specials, and the bag inserts that bring app customers back to you.
Ordering direct is cheaper for them too
This is why customers switch once they know. Most restaurants raise their app menu prices 20 to 30% to soften the commission, and the apps have a setting built in to do it. So on the app your customer pays the marked-up menu, plus a delivery fee, plus a service fee. Direct, they pay your menu price and a small delivery fee.
The markup gets charged twice. The app's service fee is a percentage of the marked-up food, so your customer pays more for the food and then pays a fee on the higher price. At a 30% markup that's $15 more for the food plus $2.25 more in service fee on a $50 meal.
Example only. Menu markups are set by each restaurant; app delivery and service fees vary by distance, time of day, order size, and membership.
Raising prices 30% doesn't cover a 30% commission
A lot of restaurants mark up their app menu to make up for the commission. The math doesn't work, because the app takes its 30% of the higher price too.
The rule: to net the same after a 30% commission, divide your price by 0.70. That's a 42.9% markup, before the customer pays a single fee, and it's the menu your customers compare against yours.
Direct delivery questions
Yes. Direct orders are dispatched through DoorDash Drive and Uber's delivery network, so the drivers are the same DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Postmates drivers. The difference is the order came from your site, so you pay a flat delivery fee instead of a commission on the whole order.
Most of our deliveries run $6.99 flat, whether the order is $20 or $200. Longer distances can cost more. You decide how much of it your customer pays: all of it, none of it, or part of it, like $4.99.
No. Keep them for the customers who haven't found you yet. Use them for the first order, put a direct-only offer in every bag, and let the second order come direct. Once most of your regulars order direct, a cheaper app plan may be all you need.
Since 2019. We've been connecting restaurants' own online ordering to third-party drivers since before most restaurants knew it was an option.
Commission-free online ordering, which comes with every website plan and every POS we sell. We connect it to the delivery networks, set your fee rules, build your direct-only offers, and design the bag inserts.
Your customer sees live tracking, and delivery issues go through the delivery network's support the same way they do on the apps. We help you set the rules for refunds and redelivery so your team isn't guessing.
Stop paying 30% to deliver your own food.
Tell us what the apps send you each week. We'll show you the flat-fee version and set it up.
